Kim Kardashian was awarded the Fashion Icon of 2021 trophy at the People’s Choice Awards
Reality TV star, Kim Kardashian thanked her “ex-husband” Kanye West last night, while accepting a fashion award at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards.
Kim was recognized for her mass influence at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards, where she was presented with The Fashion Icon award.
The 41-year-old SKIMS mogul took to the stage once again wearing an all-black Balenciaga ensemble including huge shades by the luxury fashion house, as she was handed the trophy by Tracee Ellis Ross.
Addressing Tracee, Kim said;
“To receive the award from the fashion icon herself, I am so honoured. Thank you
She also praised her “ex-husband”, Kanye West.

She said;
“To Kanye, thank you for really introducing me to the fashion world. I fell in love with fashion and I’m so inspired by so many people but again, this is like a dream that I get to wake up and wear these amazing clothes and try new things and take a risk. I’m so humbled.”
She then appeared to reference her early days as the assistant-turned-stylist for her pal Paris Hilton, saying: ‘I am honestly so humbled to be here I mean I started off as a closet organizer and a stylist. So the fact that I am winning a fashion icon award, it’s like a pinch-me moment.’
Kim continued: ‘I have those every single day that designers are willing to work with me there was a time when they weren’t. And, you know, thank you to Zac Posen who dressed me and took me to my first FDA awards.
A source told PEOPLE at the time that Kim is still closely collaborating and getting advice from ex Kanye when it comes to her outfit choices.
The source said;
“Even though Kanye is not attending tonight, his presence will be felt on the carpet. It was Kanye who introduced Kim to Demna [Gvasalia, creative director of Balenciaga] and was instrumental in the newly formed relationship

He also supported his ex-wife in embracing her new approach to dressing. The source added;
“This look on Kim is like a new subculture and fashion statement.
“No logo, no face, but everyone knows it’s her. Kanye gave her the courage to push creativity and people’s imagination through art. It’s the ultimate confidence.”
