WIZKID WINS BEST AFRICAN ACT AT THE 2021 MTV EUROPE MUSIC AWARDS

Nigerian superstar Wizkid continues to make his country proud as he was recently crowned the winner of the Best African Act category at the just concluded 2021 MTV EMA’s beating other African acts such as Tems from Nigeria, Focalistic from South Africa, Amaarae from Ghana and Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania. The award ceremony which was held in Budapest, Hungary for the first time was hosted by Saweetie and it also witnessed Ed Sheeran taking home the “Best Artist” and “Best Song” category for “Bad Habits.” Lil Nas X was awarded “Best Video” for “MONTERO (Call Me by Your Name),” and BTS grabbed the most awards in four different categories which include “Best Pop,” “Best K-Pop,” “Best Group,” and “Biggest Fans.”

 

Other winners on the night include Nicki Minaj who won the “Best Hip-Hop” category, while the “Best New” category went to the show host Saweetie.
Olivia Rodrigo was awarded “Best Push,” while the “Best Collaboration” award went to Doja Cat ft. SZA for “Kiss Me More.”

David Guetta nabbed the “Best Electronic,” category and Billie Eilish was honoured with “Video for Good” for her song “Your Power.”
