CHRIS BROWN AND DRAKE SUED FOR COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT OVER HIT SONG

There seems to be legal trouble for American singer Chris Brown and Canadian rapper Drake as they are now being sued by an artist and producer who are claiming that they ripped off their song, for their 2019 hit single ‘No Guidance’

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, one Brandon Cooper, an artist and Timothy Valentine, a producer, are claiming that Chris Brown and Drake ripped off their song “I Love Your Dress.”

In the lawsuit, they say that they dropped their record three years before “No Guidance” claiming the beat, lyrics, hook and rhythmic structure was copied from their song.

They even pointed out that in “No Guidance,” both artistes repeatedly sing “You got it, girl; you got it,” while in their song Mr Cooper sings “She got it; she got it” hence their suing for copyright infringement and damages.

Neither Chris Brown nor Drake has responded to claims that their collaboration was inspired by Mr Cooper’s record.

This “No Guidance” song which has already gone platinum is featured on Chris Brown’s ninth studio album “Indigo” while the official music video for Mr Cooper’s record was posted on YouTube in May 2019.
