One of Nigeria’s foremost fashion designers Yomi Casual has weighed in on what unfolded yesterday where many social media applications such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were shut down for almost six hours.
Yomi Casual took to his Instagram story writing that many popular social media apps going down at once should serve as a lesson to those whose means of livelihood is on social media.
He wrote, “This should serve as a lesson to y’all 21st-century celebrities and online business owners. You are nothing without the media. Respect those who made it to the top without social media #TheStruggleIsDifferent”
Just so you know Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram were all shut down in Nigeria and all across the world, which frustrated its billions of users.
Reacting to the situation, the mother company handling the three apps which is Facebook issued an apology after the services were restored writing, “To the huge community of people and businesses around the world who depend on us: we’re sorry.”
