“Empire” star Bryshere Gray was arrested for domestic violence early Monday, the Goodyear, Arizona, police department announced.
Authorities responded to a 911 call from a Circle K at approximately 10:15 p.m. local time Sunday from a woman who identified herself as Gray’s wife.
She claimed she had been assaulted by Gray in their home, alleging that he had strangled her to the point that she temporarily lost consciousness, according to the press release. She also had numerous visible injuries on her body.
Gray, 26, refused to talk to authorities when they arrived on the scene, so Goodyear SWAT and Crisis Negotiations were called out to assist.
He was taken into custody without incident just after 7:00 a.m. Monday.
She was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. Gray was arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on three domestic violence charges: aggravated assault (strangulation), assault (domestic violence), and disorderly conduct.
Gray portrayed Hakeem Lyon on the hit Fox show.
