Kanye West has announced that he will run for US president in the upcoming 2020 election.
The 43-year-old rapper and fashion designer shared his declaration on Twitter on Independence Day in America (July 4), causing a stir on social media.
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision, and building our future. I am running for president of the United States,” he wrote.

West’s wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West, responded to the tweet with an American flag emoji, while Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote: “You have my full support.”
There are only four months left to go before polling day on 3 November, and it is not known whether West has filed any official paperwork to appear on state election ballots. West would go up against Donald Trump – who he has been a vocal supporter of – and Democrat Joe Biden.
