Missy Elliot nominated for Songwriters Hall of Fame

American artiste, Missy Elliot has been nominated for the 2019 Songwriters Hall of Fame, the first female rapper to be so recognised.
The American rapper has written songs for Mary J. Blige, Destiny’s Child, Fantasia, Beyonce, Janet Jackson, Jazmine Sullivan and Whitney Houston.
According to the list released by the organisers on Thursday, others joining Elliott as performing nominees are Mariah Carey, Chrissie Hynde, Vince Gill, Mike Love, Jimmy Cliff, and John Prine.
Elliott celebrated the nomination in a Twitter post that read:
“I am Humbly Grateful to be nominated with so many other AMAZING writers. Congratulations to all of them also.”
