Kevin Hart Surprises 18 Students With $600,000 Worth Of Scholarships

American comedian, actor and television host, Kevin Hart has just achieved a spectacular feat. The Philadelphia born actor surprised 18 students of Historically Black Colleges and Universities in America (HBCU) with $600,000 worth of College Scholarships at a dinner last night.

According to a press release, the surprise happened during a United Negro College Fund dinner. Kevin Hart joined forces with UNCF and KIPP Knowledge Is Power Program; to present his $600,000 gift which went to deserving students based on their personal and academic accomplishments.

The scholarship recipients included KIPP students from 11 HBCUs, including Morehouse College, Spelman College, Fisk University, Dillard University and Xavier University.

At the dinner, Kevin Hart inspired the students saying:

“I am living proof that if you put your mind to something you can not only achieve it, but you can go above and beyond the expectations of what you thought that you could do. After you open one door, the crazy thing is you find out that there are seven more doors that you could open. Education is that first door. breeze through this! This is the opportunity of a lifetime breeze through it! When you get to that next door…breeze through that. Success is what you want it to be. At the end of the day, we are what we want to be. Do not allow others to hold you back.”

He further took to his Instagram page to post about the event and how his Charity platform is set to do more; he captioned:

“Yesterday I surprised 18 #HBCU with scholarships to complete their college degrees…. major thank you to my partners @UNCF @kippschools for helping me…. you guys stepped up to the table and matched my donation and we awarded 600,000….also thank u @jessecollinsent for helping us coordinate this event…..this is just the beginning people!!!! My “Help From The Hart Charity” is about to do a lot more!!!!! #LiveLoveLaugh …..I’m also proud of the 8 Kids from Philadelphia that received these scholarships ….STAND UP PHILLY!!!!!”
