Just 10 years after the passing away of his mum, Donda West, as a result of plastic surgery complications, Kanye West‘s father has been diagnosed with prostrate cancer. Kanye’s dad, Ray West who is a former photojournalist at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and a Christian counselor, is reported to be responding well to treatment of the condition which was initially serious.

Kanye had to leave work and rush home to Los Angeles to take care of his father. The situation was also confirmed by Kanye’s one-time stepmother, Cheryl Carmichael West who added that Ray was diagnosed last spring. She reiterated: “He’s getting treatment and from what I understand the treatments are working.”

Sources say his parents divorced when he was 3 years old but maintained a cordial relationship throughout his childhood. However, the death of his mum in 2007 took its toll on Kanye, 41, who attributed his 2016 mental breakdown to the sad event.

Reportedly, he has been having medical issues of his own, recently revealing that he was diagnosed with a mental condition and even contemplated suicide. The rapper was recently taken to the emergency room by his reality star wife and mother of 3, Kim Kardashian, after the condition started to get the better of him.
