Known for his chart-topping hit Lonely, Akon shared his admiration for the Afrobeats scene, highlighting Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido as key figures in the genre’s global rise.
Akon praised Burna Boy, calling him a “beast” on the world stage, thanks to his unique fusion of Nigerian and Ghanaian sounds. He also acknowledged his influence on Burna Boy’s career, crediting the former head of international at Konvict Music for helping shape the artist’s journey.
When discussing Wizkid, Akon described him as a true superstar, releasing one hit song each year that continues to resonate globally. On Davido, Akon recognized his relentless work ethic, noting that while Davido’s privileged background played a role in his career launch, the artist’s commitment and consistency led to his significant success.
